Students visit the OLMUN conference in Oldenburg

Today, IB Diploma and IGCSE Students from the CJD International School will be representing countries from the Maldives and Vanutu to Kyrgystan and Uruguay on a variety of committees. 

Committee groups such as the UN Human Rights Council, UN Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women Committee, UN Environment Programme, and more will be debating topics like: 
Preventing Illicit Financing of Armed Conflict, Environmental Consequences of Neglected Threats: Updating Guidelines for the Disposal of Chemical and Explosive Waste, Preventing and Responding to Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, Raising Awareness of Mental Health Problems and Developing Recommendations, Ensuring Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities in Society and the Labour Market and more.

The purpose of MUN is to get student involved in and raise awareness for global issues, to learn debate skills and collaboration, to gain from perspective taking and empathy, and to work together to create their own understanding and think critically about solving complex problems.
