The CJD Boarding House in Braunschweig

A home away from home: safe, personal, international.

  1. Boarding House

A comfortable environment for young people from all over the world

The CJD boarding school in Braunschweig welcomes young people aged 14 and up from all over the world and offers them a safe home away from home. In small, gender-segregated residential groups with a maximum of 36 students, we create a family atmosphere that allows for intensive and caring supervision. As representatives of the parents, we create a framework that provides security, support, and comfort – while also providing space for personal development.

We not only accompany the young people on their path to the IB Diploma or German Abitur, but also support them in their individual learning and personal development.

Our boarding house is an international meeting place, characterized by cultural diversity and mutual respect. Each and every individual enriches our community – with language, culture, celebrations, lifestyle, and personal experiences. This creates a sense of togetherness that is underpinned by openness, tolerance, and mutual appreciation.

Our care and values

We strive to create an environment at the boarding school where all residents feel valued and respected. This supportive environment includes, among other things, dedicated contact persons available around the clock, transparency in communication and actions, and voluntary acceptance of assistance.

In addition to academic excellence, we are committed to fostering diverse individuals who are willing to make a meaningful contribution to a global society. By living together in a shared environment, our students experience a variety of social interactions. Through daily interactions and communal living, they develop deep empathy and understanding for people from different walks of life. By sharing spaces and tasks, students develop important life skills such as independence, consideration, cooperation, and mutual respect. We believe that living diversity is not just a motto, but a way of life.

Two keys to success: German Abitur or IB Diploma

Our students can choose between the German Abitur and the IB Diploma. This determines which study and career opportunities open up both at home and abroad. Choosing the option that best fits their goals and interests lays a solid foundation for a successful academic and professional future.

The German Abitur at the CJD Gymnasium

The German Abitur provides direct access to German universities and, as the highest academic qualification, enjoys high social prestige. It opens up excellent career, training, and earning opportunities. Furthermore, it imparts not only broad general knowledge but also important soft skills that are of great value in professional life. Our Gymnasium (grammar school) is a reliable all-day school with a unique concept that is continuously adapted and developed to meet the needs of its students. Recognized as a STEM-friendly school, we promote internships in cooperation with partners from science and industry.

Four particularly important focal points of the concept are:

  • Small classes with two teachers each allow for intensive support for young people.
  • Teachers act as coaches and learning facilitators, supporting students in responsibly utilizing the freedom of open learning formats.
  • Students can choose to earn their Abitur at their own pace, either after grade 12 or 13.
  • We also offer special programs for gifted students, including competency and excellence courses and early study in the upper grades.

The IB Diploma at CJD International School

The IB Diploma corresponds to the German higher education entrance qualification (according to the regulations of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany). According to www.ibo.org, it is recognized by over 4,500 universities in more than 110 countries worldwide and facilitates access to international universities and the launch of global careers. Regardless of the country in which it was earned, the IB Diploma clearly and reliably signals a student's academic strengths in international applications. The program not only imparts specialist knowledge but also specifically promotes academic work and the transition to higher education. Furthermore, the IB strengthens intercultural understanding and social responsibility.

What makes our International School special:

  • The sense of family that connects students, parents, and staff.
  • A supportive environment where every child is seen, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
  • The diverse international community that creates a culture of trust, care, and collaboration.
  • We are proud to offer the excellent Cambridge curriculum, renowned for its holistic development.
