Science Teacher participated in international teachers training at CERN
The International Teachers Week Program in CERN is one of the best workshops that I have ever participated in. I attended lectures from researchers who are top in their respective fields, such as theoretical physics, anti-matter, particle accelerator, etc. Time was allocated to participants in order to ask any related questions to the lectures or in teaching pedagogy of particle physics. Not only that, but I was also so fortunate to be able to visit all the factories and particle detectors in CERN, such as ATLAS, CMS, and ALICE, to name a few. In every guided tour, there are researchers explaining the construction and detection mechanism behind every machine in detail.
Since it is a program for teachers, there are lectures on how to effectively introduce particle physics to students. I have learned so much from chatting with other participants from 34 countries all over the world. At the end of the program, I gave a lecture on the Future Particle Collider that will soon replace the LHC.
I am now an ambassador of CERN, and there are many useful resources available there for teachers and students.
