  1. Geography Project

Geography Project on 02.04.2025: Exploring Geological Wonders in Rocks and Minerals with Y8

The project was conceived and designed by our IBDP faculty member, Dr. Tanusree Sengupta Schröder, with the aim of encouraging a deeper understanding of Earth science and sparking interest in Geography at the middle school level.

The project culminated in an engaging exhibition where students showcased rock and mineral samples such as calcites, malachite, chalcopyrite, fossilized ammonites, and more. Each group prepared interactive displays, models, posters, and presentations that explained their assigned topics. They used a digital microscope to let younger students examine rock crystals up close, sparking curiosity and discussion. All students and teachers from other classes were invited to visit the exhibition. Visitors left comments and asked questions, allowing participants to practice their communication skills and deepen their knowledge through dialogue.

This event was not only a creative way to display what they had learned in the lesson, but also served as a formative term assessment, evaluating their research, teamwork, presentation, and social interaction skills.

In summary, this project was a rich, multidimensional learning experience that brought geology to life in a fun and meaningful way. It successfully blended academic rigour with creativity and student engagement, laying a strong foundation for further interest in Geography/Earth sciences and beyond.
