Academic institutions and employers worldwide recognise IGCSE Certificates. The certificate is the official document at the end of compulsory education. Each learner’s performance is benchmarked using eight internationally recognised grades. Clear guidelines explain the achievement standards for different grades.
Available grades are A*, A, B, C, D, E, F, G.
Five Cs or better in English as a First Language, a second language (not German), Maths, one Natural Science (Biology, Physics or Chemistry) and one Social Science (Geography or History) are recognised as equivalent to the “Erweiterter Sekundar-I-Abschluss” by most German states, including the state of Lower Saxony.
The IGCSE subjects that are offered at the CJD International School develop and reinforce a broad range of skills that will be needed for the IB Diploma Programme in Years 11 and 12. The International Baccalaureate Diploma is an international programme that our students follow in Years 11–12. Students need passing grades in the IGCSE subjects English First or Second Language, Mathematics and at least one Natural Science to be admitted to the IB Diploma Programme in Year 11.
IGCSE papers are sent to the Cambridge International examination board and corrected by external examiners. Results are released in August; IGCSE Certificates are handed out in October/November.
