We celebrate our 20th Anniversary!
Our Anniversary Song
How it all started
Braunschweig, 2004: Do we really need an international school for our region? This question was asked very often at the beginning of our school. The clear answer: yes, we do.
Together with the city of Braunschweig we therefore launched our school in 2004. A site was also quickly found. The former Streitberg School became our International School after some remodelling work.
At the beginning, 60 % of our students came from Germany, so the teachers had to pay more attention to ensuring that our school remained an English only zone.
Today our students come from more than 25 nations, so English is used automatically to communicate.
20 Years International School
The International School Braunschweig-Wolfsburg celebrated its 20th anniversary
Shortly before the start of the summer holidays, students, staff, parents and guests celebrated the school's 20th anniversary with a big Summer Party.
The school was founded in 2004 with just 24 students and five staff members. Today, more than 270 children and young people from all over the world study at the school.
After the official ceremony, during which the success of the past years was reviewed and the best students of the year were honoured, the event continued with a variety of activities on the school campus, such as face painting, henna tattoos, bouncy castles, and fun and games.
The highlights of the day were the two exhibitions: All classes showed the results of their lessons in the gym, e.g., poems from German lessons, posters from science lessons, or presentations on artists from Spanish lessons. Visitors could embark on a fascinating journey into an enchanted forest in the darkened art room. The black-light exhibition 'Into the Woods' presented a joint art project by students from the Early Years to Year 9.
Culinary delights were also provided: the parents invited everyone to a Culinary Journey around the world and prepared a wealth of specialities, which all visitors of the Summer Party enjoyed in the sunshine at the school playground.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the Summer Party!
